2 Months and Counting

Grant is now 63 days old, and with each new day come more smiles, goos and giggles... not to mention chubby rolls- we've done a good job plumping him up!

Our lives are still p
ivoting around the little guy; however,Cambell and I are both having to add some other activities to our baby schedule. Last week Cambell started a new semester at BYU and is already busy with homework and film projects, and I will be starting work on the 15th back at the dental office (just one day a week, while the boys can have some one on one bonding time).

Grant sometimes shows hope of a predictable schedule, but most the time plays his wild card. He has started to take longer naps which helps me actually be able to get some things done around the house. This was good timing as his fan club of family and friends came this weekend for his baby blessing.

P.S. Thanks Aunt Cindy for these beautiful photos!

Our New Baby

After all our anticipation, our baby boy, Grant Wesley, came on July 6th. The delivery went well due to Rebecca's calm and upbeat attitude throughout the whole thing. Plus, we had Rebecca's mom there with her wealth of baby experience to help keep us grounded. I can't quite describe the elation of seeing him stretch and hearing his little voice for the first time. We both just cried and relished in the miracle. Now I am quite aware that billions of people are experiencing the same thing, but it does kind of feel like this little creature is the most important thing in the world right now.

As far as the stats go, he came over two weeks early, but he was a good 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 inches long... or maybe it's "20 inches tall"? That sounds a little more human (which he is) and less like a fish (which he is not).

For those curious about the private life of Grant Wesley, he seems to enjoy easy to moderate climbing, pushing off anything that gets in range of his chubby little legs' and he always tries to stand up in our laps which has made us sure we have a Super-Baby. He's even started to smile (which shows off those charming dimples)!

When we brought Grant home, my mom and dad drove up from Arizona and slept in our cramped baby room for a week to help us transition to parenthood, which helped enormously. My sister was serendipitously flying into town from Connecticut with her kids and so as soon as she made it into town, she dropped by. Our nephew Jackson ran up to our apartment with a drawing he did for Grant which featured a superhero tower with Jackson, Ava and their new cousin, Grant as a tiny addition. The first thing Jackson said was "Where's baby Grant?" (usually his question is "Where's Rebecca?" This slight change in noun is evidence of Jackson's excitement, especially to those that know about his crush-I can't blame him really. Before meeting Rebecca he would refer to her as "Cam's Temple Girl" but he wanted to take her camping without Cam...I've had to endure some competition, but he's been more than civil about our mutual affection).

Once Jackson and Grant were formally introduced, he loved to hold the little guy, even though he had to wait for all the other big people to take their turns (which caused some tears on his part-understandably-I mean, c'mon... this is his first cousin!). My mom reported that Jackson was very concerned about Grant's newborn narcolepsy. He asked "Where him eyes?" and "When him going to open him eyes?" Grant just slept and slept and slept, and ate and ate and ate (often doing both at once). It's payed off too, because now he's almost 12 lbs!

Overall, we've been totally overwhelmed by the generosity family and friends have shown us in taking care of us and the little guy. Honestly, we feel a little spoiled and are immensely thankful for the constant flow of visits, support and kindness. We highly recommend the baby thing, and not just for the awesome conversation piece you get out of it. With all his dimples, grunts and gummy grins, Grant has wiggled his way into our hearts (not to mention our bed-he's definitely a snuggler).

Finals are (practically) over!

On December 29th Rebecca and I were married in the Timpanogos Temple and have been having fun ever since. We moved into the same house that my sister Kalee and her husband Justin moved into when they were married. (We call it the 'caboose' for obvious reasons when you see it:)

We are both attending BYU and working part time and are excited for the summer. We are planning trips to Oregon, California, Arizona and Wyoming!

Rebecca has her last final tonight and then we are free!
